Short Mat Finals 2022/23

Saturday saw the culmination of the short mat competitions and we were treated to three great games. Keith James beat Ray Morgan to lift the men's trophy, Jill Bell pipped Debbie Fry to win the Ladies' trophy and Keith and Val Burton won out against Debbie and Phil Downer in the mixed pairs. Very well played to the winners and the runners up certainly deserve a mention after their great efforts.

In a dramatic late twist in the short mat league, the yellow team only had to score 1 point from the 6 available from their last game to leapfrog the white team and take league victory. However, a sterling performance from the violet team saw the yellows completely shut out, meaning the white team take the spoils this year - well done Rod & Chris Day, Rob Matthews, Jill Bell & John Stone.

Ringwood Shield Retained

At Lymington, the New Forest A Team, hastily reshuffled due to covid and non-availability, collectively fought off a spirited Iford Bridge team on all four rinks to retain the Ringwood Shield - well played fellas.

Unfortunately, we can't now make it 3 years on the trot as the team gained promotion to the top league and will play for the President's Cup next year.

Barry's triumphant warriors!

One Point From Glory

It was a complete West Moors rink closeout as the New Forest B team stood shoulder to shoulder with the A team, occupying all 6 rinks in the morning session at the Lymington finals. It went right down to the last wood but Derek's valiant team lost by ONE point in the Ivor Fourmy Trophy.

Unlucky lads, great effort although getting to the final is difficult enough so very well played overall - you should be proud of yourselves.
